Romance

DRAWING STEPS....

Re-Capture Romance And Bring It Back Into Your Life

Author: Candace Czarny

As life gets more and more busy and as the responsibilities pile up on your plate, such as your career and family, it can be hard to pay attention to the smaller things that make life pleasant. One of the things that you may notice slipping is romance. How can you recapture romance and bring it back into your life and relationship? Understanding the simple philosophy of Feng Shui can improve your romantic life quickly and easily. By creating an every day life full of balance and harmony, you will find romance returning and improvement in your most important relationship, that with your lover or potential mate. With Feng Shui and romance, you must remember that you and what is important to yourself comes before anything else.

If your goal is to improve Feng Shui and romance, it is essential to understand what the love center or romance area of your home is. This romance center is to the far right corner of your house from the entrance, or it is the far right corner of every room that you enter. Focusing on this area of your home or in each room will increase your Feng Shui and romance. A way to improve the romance area is to create a feeling of comfort and relaxation. Do this with smart decorating and design choices, such as using pleasant colors and freeing the area of clutter. You want to have an inviting space that encourages intimacy. When you have a warm and welcoming space, you will find romance flowing more freely through your house and within your life.

An important concept to keep in mind when it comes to Feng Shui and romance is to rid your current life of any past romances. This is simple to do - remove any associations with these past relationships, including mementos and pictures. Once you have done this, you will find it easier to bring a new romance into your life. You may even consider replacing your bed and other bedroom furniture if it has connections with your old love. This change may be more drastic, but it will create an atmosphere that will welcome a new and successful romance.

Other items to remove from your bedroom, and important place in the home for Feng Shui and romance, are objects that are related to other activities that have nothing to do with love. These items include your television, exercise equipment, and personal computer. These everyday objects can be more appropriately placed in other areas of the house where they won't affect the peaceful energies you are trying to create in the bedroom. If these items must remain in the bedroom, try to shield them from view by using a screen or curtain.

Feng Shui and romance in the bedroom can be enhanced by furniture arrangement. When it comes to bed placement, you want to make sure that it is situated as far from the entrance door as possible, although you still want the bed to be within sight from the doorway. A solid headboard is another physical feature that encourages Feng Shui and romance by representing the solidity of the relationship you are pursuing.

Another simple physical aspect to tackle when improving the Feng Shui and romance in your bedroom is to remove any unnecessary clutter. This also applies to any other area of the house, but when it comes to romance it is most essential to clear the bedroom of unsightly and nonfunctional clutter. This includes objects lying on the floor, or excessive decorations on top of your dresser. Clutter certainly does not encourage intimacy and will detract from the atmosphere of romance that you are trying to build with Feng Shui.

Another simple trick is to create the feeling within the bedroom that you are not single, even if you aren't currently in a relationship. Do this by placing a second pillow on your bed and making extra room in your bathroom and closet. This is a good way to use Feng Shui and romance to encourage a potential new love. Also, be sure that the artwork within your bedroom is a reflection of romance by avoiding landscapes that appear lonely or photographs of a single person. Good artwork to include on the walls or on your dresser are pictures of things in pairs, such as two flowers or two animals. These simple measures will encourage romance and love to blossom within your bedroom and life.

A great Feng Shui and romance tip is to bring in living elements from the outdoors. Fresh flowers or an attractive plant are objects that can be incorporated into your home for encouraging a pleasant atmosphere and romance. Of course, do not keep around wilting or dried up flowers, as these will harm your levels of Feng Shui and romance within the home.

To encourage romance within your life, concentrate on the love that is already present, including your family and friends. Embracing this love will create a welcoming attitude for romantic love. Feng Shui and romance will flourish throughout your home and life if you keep a positive spirit that is open to the possibility of a new love.

Floating flowers

Drawing steps ....

Fresh Flowers Aren't Just for the Dining Room Table
By Claire Bowes

Fresh Flowers in All the Traditional Places

When you think of a beautiful floral arrangement, you often think of the dining room table, especially if it is holiday time. And why not? Beautiful dining centerpieces have graced our tables for centuries. Whether you are having a party, decorating for a holiday, or simply adding a beautiful touch, keep in mind that floral arrangements should complement the décor and mood of the room. Remember, too, you don't have to have a traditional arrangement just because you find it in a traditional location. Instead of one big center arrangement, you may want to try a series of vases and candles on a fabric runner for a stunning effect.

Another traditional location for fresh flowers is in the foyer or entranceway. What a great way to make a terrific first impression. Regardless of your style, flowers in the entryway can create the mood from the moment someone walks through your door. Is your home formal? Try an elegant centerpiece or a piece of artwork on a pedestal draped with a garland and flowers. For a homier, friendlier look, place a basket with a garden bouquet on the entry table. No matter what your style, flowers can enhance your home.

Beyond Tradition

Let's not stop with tradition! Fresh flowers are so beautiful that they should not be relegated to the dining room and entryway alone. Why not brighten every room in your house? Let's look at a few ideas to help you think outside the box.

Kitchen: Think beyond basil and oregano! Fill your kitchen window ledge with pots of herbs and sun-loving plants like kalanchoe, African violets, or primroses. A few well-placed gerbera daisies can help spice up your kitchen, too. The best part is that you can enjoy your mini-harvest every day.

Bedroom: Add a touch of romance in your bedroom with a few beautiful stems that complement or accent the color of your linens or wallpaper. There is simply nothing like waking up to a delicate scent drifting from your nightstand. Tea roses, freesias, peonies, lilac and lilies, all have delicious fragrances.

Guest Bedroom: Welcome your guest with a bright floral addition. Visitors feel extra special with a bright bunch of cut flowers sitting pretty on the guest room nightstand.

Bathroom: Flowers in the bathroom? Why not! A simple plastic tumbler filled with fragrant blossoms makes an attractive air freshener. You can even add floating rose-petals in a bath to spoil a friend!

Office: Any job is more enjoyable when the surroundings are cheerful and attractive, and what is more cheerful than cut flowers? Bring nature indoors and make yourself happier and healthier!

Laundry Room: I can hear you now - NOT the laundry room, too! Yes, even the laundry room can use a bit of sunshine. Rinse out an old bleach or detergent bottle, fill it with cut flowers and place it on your washing machine or shelf. It'll help lighten the load on washday!

Staircase: Create a "stepped" effect with a series of flowers in interesting containers.

There is nothing wrong with tradition - a big floral arrangement on the dining room table is always a welcomed addition to the décor of the room. Fresh flowers, however, don't have to stay in the dining room. Be creative! Think unique! Put them in all your nooks and crannies! And yes, even put them in your bathroom!

You Don't Have to be a Floral Designer

You've been to the florist before and know that you can't create the gorgeous centerpieces you find there, nor can you afford to buy them already made. Don't worry! Simply buy some fresh flowers, take them home, and experiment. Anything that can hold water is a possibility for a flower arrangement.

Water Pitchers

Urns

Pots

Vases

Bowls

Watering Cans

Soda Bottles

Mason Jars

Champagne Bottles

Mugs

Even a Child's Plastic Cup

Once you have a few containers, the fun begins. Try filling a clear glass with flowers and fill with colored marbles. Create a cluster of different sized flower-filled bottles on a coffee table. Use bowls and shallow dishes for floating flower heads or petals and add floating candles for a bright and shining effect.

Mother Nature has created great beauty in flowers and you simply can't go wrong. Develop your own personal style and taste by experimenting with different colors and types of flowers. Each week try a different look, color, or kind of flower.

The complementary colors of flowers can brighten any part of the house, from the kitchen to the family room to the bedroom. Expand your ideas to different areas throughout your home. The important thing is to have fun and enjoy.

Fish tank

Tropical Fish Tank First-Timers, An Introduction

By: Iszuddin Ismail

Owning your own aquarium is great fun, and I have been maintaining my own with love for many years! There's over 60 million of us "aquarists" worldwide, and if this is a hobby you're interested in, it's worth a little time to learn what it's all about before you start.

So what's an aquarium? In the simplest terms, it's a transparent container where you can keep, nurture, observe and enjoy live fish. The goldfish bowl with a single fish in it counts, but what most people mean when they talk about aquariums is a large fish tank (usually rectangular) with several different types of fish and aquatic plants living in balance with each other.

There are two basic types of aquarium environment – fresh water and salt water. Fresh water is definitely easier for people who are new to the hobby, as the salt water (or "marine") tanks take a great deal of attention and skill to keep the fish alive.

So your next step is probably to find out what types of fish you like. If you're lucky, you have fishy friends you can ask questions of, but even a trip to your local pet store or specialty fish store will get you lots of good advice from the sales clerks. Tell them you're a beginner, and that you want to look at freshwater fish, and they will give you lots of choices! Finding the one fish that calls out to you will tell you what temperature your tank needs to be, and starting with one species is probably simplest.

Next, I'd get a good book about basic aquarium care, and read it before you get started!

Then, start collecting your tank and equipment. You'll want to look for a sturdy aquarium that's big enough to give you room to add fish as your experience grows. Practical home fish tanks range from about 11 liters (3 U.S. gallons) up to about one cubic meter (300 U.S. gallons) in size.

You'll need gravel, or another substrate, for the bottom of the tank. You'll need a filtration system, to remove waste and phosphates from the water, and a heater or cooler mechanism to keep the water temperature right. You may need an air pump to oxygenate the water, depending on your tank setup. Also ask about a small chemical kit for measuring and correcting the pH balance in the water.

You'll want to investigate the plants, rocks, and other "aquarium furniture" that goes into the tank. Choose carefully, because the wrong materials can be harmful or even poisonous to your fish!

Get your tank set up, and make sure that the water temperature and pH balance is correct BEFORE you go back to the store to get your fish! If you've done everything correctly, your fish will be healthy and happy, and you'll have a fascinating new hobby to learn and love!

Rainy Day Blues

Beating Rainy Day Blues

Author: Ajay R (articlesubmit.net)

Wondering what to do when the weather has you down? There are lots of activities parents might suggest, but many have been shunned or are not as wholesome as you might prefer. Rather than sitting around all day in front of the television, try something new.

Family Togetherness

Do something as a family. Use the weather as the perfect excuse to head to the mall for a little family bonding time. Pop into everyone’s favorite store and pick out a little something new. Rain or snow makes it hard to keep from getting restless, but a brisk walk inside a closed mall might make things fun, and if you stop for smoothies or coffee drinks and encourage conversation, all the better!

Something Different

Being stuck in the house doesn’t mean things have to be exactly the same. Sure it might be easy to tell kids to go put in a movie or play with their toys, but be ready for them to sigh heavily and profess their boredom. If you are not a huge fan of video games, but your kids are, go and rent them something new. If you sit and play with them, it will make the experience more meaningful to everyone and you might just get hooked.

If you’d rather leave the television off, give your kids a rare treat. Let them see your old slides or photo albums. Perhaps you can make cookies, or if it’s a particularly bad day weather-wise, show your kids how to make bread from scratch. Kneading a few loaves might burn off a little energy.

Go Online
The computer is a scary place for parents sometimes, but there are tons of great sites that don’t have predators or unhealthy motives. Find education games or websites that boost creativity. Find a site, such as The Doll Palace with dress up girls, and let your kids experiment with fashion. Encourage story telling and creativity. Let your kids have a contest on who can dress up girls the best and then make them tell you all about their creations.

There are lots of other things to do on the internet besides dress up girls and games, however. Try finding online communities that appeal to their interests and let them loose. If your son is into trains or sharks, there are plenty of sites that specialize in those topics and most are education based. Read articles, play educational games, try puzzles, and let them search. The internet does have dangerous content, but with parents helping children understand what a good site is and what it’s not, you are empowering them for the future and teaching crucial lessons we didn’t have to worry about until just a few years ago.

Have Fun

Regardless of what activity (or activities) you chose for the day, have fun. Childhood is so fleeting that many parents wish they had spent more time with their children while they could. If soccer practice gets rained out or your kids can’t go outside in a thunderstorm, encourage family fun. Spending time together is crucial to happy families, and rainy days might be one of the best chances you get!

Art That Brighten Up Your Day

Author: Steve Pak

One thing that people really love to look at is art. No matter what kind it is realism, surrealism and the likes, people will always take time to admire these arts skillfully and masterfully created by artists. A building or even a house is not really complete without one of these. It just adds to the grandeur and personality of any structure the art is housed in. An art piece is just as good as any other thing that can really compliment the building.

Sometimes, in a building, especially if the kids need to be checked-up by the doctor, other things are provided in order for them not to be bored. There are toys, coloring books and even story books that the children can read and play with while waiting for their turn. Parents more or less can just sit and relax while looking after their children playing either by themselves or with the other kids. For them not to get bored too, some owners of the building place unique wall art to create somewhat like a mini art gallery.

Time flies fast when people do something or staring and reading something while waiting for their names or number to be called in. In a gloomy day, just staring at a painting or a wall décor that is interesting can make the mood of a person change gradually. If that person analyzes that art, then he is able to give out his opinions and tell others what he thinks of it. It too helps the person to forget whatever problems he has that day and perhaps may have a different outlook in life after staring intently at that art piece.

But of course not everything that the owner likes will be housed inside the room or the building. He should also consider the hazard it may bring to his employees and to the guests which will be coming inside the place too. Space should also be taken into consideration because it would really be a hassle to bring in a large décor if there is only minimal space to place it in. Wrought iron wall art can bring that edge and life to a dull room without worrying about the space it will need.

So you see, even though you'll need to wait for quite sometime for your turn, looking at art can change whatever you are feeling at the moment. Also, by merely looking at it, you may even want to put on some additions to your home or pad. A little fixture here and there can lighten up the place. Also, it is okay to have a receiving or waiting area so that people will not be roaming around your place without you being pissed off. Confining them at one place will enable you to do your thing instantly without thinking about where your guests are wandering in your place.

If you want to have something that's really unusual, why not add metal wall art. It easily compliments a home whether it is a modern or antique home. Metal is something that can be added without difficulty. It too can be colored without hassle if you want to add life to it but living it as it is will just be as fine too.

Green leaves

How Plant Greens Nutrients Works

Author: Steven A Johnson

The importance of green vegetables has been known for the last few hundred years. Plants have always accommodated a dinner plate and fruits were only used as a snack or dessert. People harvested only the most useful plants and scattered their seeds effortlessly thought out the land we now live on. But it was not until the 16 th century that the fruits and vegetables we now eat were introduced into our diet.

Greens provide essential base forming minerals such as calcium and magnesium that are not found in fruit, nuts and seeds, not to mention other more conventional, acid-forming foods. Most of the fruits available to us are very low in calcium. Although we hear oranges and figs are rich in calcium, we do not eat or digest the white pith or seeds.

Foods from the "Green" groups are among the best for our health. They typically have a high concentrate of two phytochemicals; chlorophyll and carotenoids. These two have been linked to be a prophylactic to tumors and offer protection to coronary disease.

When discussing the importance of "Greens" in our diet, I feel it is important to quickly explain how plant nutrients work. The green color of the leaves is due to the most common of plant pigments, chlorophyll. Chlorophyll acts very similar to blood, only it has an atom of magnesium in the center and a tail of hydrocarbons instead of iron. Thus making this molecule soluble only in fats.

Chlorophyll absorbs violet and red light, appearing to be green. What makes a whole plant green is the absorption capacity which is strong enough to hide the other natural colors in plants. The only time we see the other colors is in Autumn, when the chlorophyll molecule decomposes and we see colors of amber, red, and brown.

The nutrition we get out of a plant depends on the environment on which they are grown. The temperature, humidity, sunlight hours and soil properties are the difference between a healthy plant and one that will not create the nutrients we need.

Green leaf vegetables are our best source of folates and folic acid which is a B vitamin that is essential for cell growth and reproduction . The amount of vitamin C, is a powerful antioxidant is extremely high in leafy greens, especially spinach, kiwi, broccoli and parsley.

Other valuable components are carotenoids, highly unsaturated yellow to red pigments occurring in plants which are components of vitamin A. Vitamin A supports the immune system and also fulfils a specific role in our vision. Potassium, calcium, iron and zinc are also present in great quantities, as is magnesium.

The intake of all of these is essential for human health. Green foods should be cut as little as possible before washing and cooking them to preserve these essential minerals.

Now that we know we need to have those nutrients to live a healthier life, it has become a problem of discipline for people. Not everyone wants to cook up a bunch of fresh greens or throw them into a blender to make a high nutrient, sometimes awful tasting smoothie. While most people consider a salad before or during a meal to be essential, it is clearly not enough to give you everything you need. Vegetables vary in the richness of their nutrients. Some of the vegetables we can consume great amounts of calcium usually not found on a dinner plate or in our average homemade salads are cabbage, collared greens, kale, escarole, turnip greens, mustard greens, watercress and spinach.

Many scientists and doctors have taken this into consideration. There are almost too many types of supplemental "Greens" products available. The most common ways to have ALL of your green minerals is to take it in a pill form or a powder mix that can be turned into a pleasant tasting nutrition drink. These supplements can actually work better than eating the vegetables. Each green has its characteristics and potency but most people do not chew the food enough to release the proper amount into our body. If we eat a vegetable without chewing out the nutrients, it makes it almost impossible for the digestive system to break it down, resulting in a loss of perfect calcium. When supplements for greens are made, they are made up of a blend of the strongest greens and at their most nutritional stage.

Flowers

There Has Always Been More to Flowers Than Scent and Color!
Author: Muna wa Wanjiru

Nature and our entire lives would definitely be so poor and colorless without flowers; even in the most crowded metropolis, you'll still find flowery corners in garden, parks or people's homes. Interior decorations without the presence of flowers are considered almost inconceivable by some house owners who choose to lend beauty and a special spirit to their rooms by plant growing.

In the evolution of all cultures, flowers are present from the dawn of history; they are stylized in paintings and mosaics, on temple walls and in carvings, being used for the most common of decorations. Flowers accompany the most primeval of rituals, whether they are related to life or death, this world or the afterlife, the sacred or the profane, and this prevalence explains the development of a special symbolism associated with certain flowers.

Water lilies are considered the rare and beautiful symbols of spiritual enlightening; in Asian cultures, the so-called lotus flower is the archetype of a level of enlightenment that is the closest to divinity. Hence, we wouldn't be in the wrong to say that some flowers have their powerful counterpart in the invisible world by the power of the spirit.

Flowers charm by color, fragrance, freshness and emotional charge as well; once they are offered, they are given a certain kind of significance, and all we have to do in order to prove their power is to simply consider the many occasions we offer them as message bearers. Flowers say “thank you”, flowers say “I love you”, flowers say “Congratulations!”, flowers say “I'm sorry”, flowers receive all the charge of all our good thoughts.

All the cosmetic skin care products, the many perfumes and fragrances that delight our senses and dress us with their aroma, are nothing else but an imitation of the delight Mother Nature has given us in flowers. Rose petals in bath tubs, iris and jasmine extracts are but a few examples of flowers that served well for the body care in the antique world. Nevertheless there has always been more to flowers than scent and color!

Besides the decorative function that prevails in most cases, flowers also share healing powers, being exploited by traditional medicine since the dawn of time when nature was the only source of remedies for various diseases and ailments. Even in our modern times, there are flowers the properties of which remain undeniably valuable for the medical world: this is the very case of a plant we know today as passion flower.

Feathers

Dear little feather,
You are floating with hopes
And hopes are only keeping you up
Oh Mr. wind, please do push him little bit up
so he can reach up and up and go near to a tiny
Tinkerbell to make her wings!

How to Find the Feather Bed of Your Dreams

Author: Amanda Halm

Every human being has one thing in common: We desire a good night's sleep. No one likes to spend the night tossing and turning, dreading the moment when the first sliver of sun starts to appear in the blue-gray sky, realizing you'll have to complete a whole day of work on maybe five minutes of sleep. I've been there. I realized I had a bedding problem when I started to envy my dog's plush mattress. He sleeps curled in complete comfort while I roll around like I'm on a cruise ship. It was time to stop drinking coffee by the gallon and start to rethink my bedding options. So with bloodshot eyes, I started out in search of the perfect feather bed. I was looking for something plush and cloud-like, easy-to-clean, and luxurious. This is what I learned through my odyssey to find the perfect feather bed. How do you know if a feather bed is right for you? In Europe, featherbeds are sometimes used instead of mattresses. But in the U.S, the featherbed goes on top of the regular mattress, beneath a fitted sheet for that extra-layer of cushion. A featherbed is ideal if your mattress just isn't doing it anymore or lacking support. Don't forget that featherbeds add an extra layer of insulation, so you might want to choose a light cotton comforter or breezy blanket instead of a full down comforter. Also, putting a feathered over a mattress adds extra inches, so if you have a pillbox only add the feather bed if you want to sleep like the Princess and the Pea. Choosing a Featherbed There's no one-size-fits-all feather bed. There are many different types, including bag style, baffle channel, bafflebox, and down-topped. These aren't just special names created for selling purposes, they actually mean something. Baffle box - A baffle box featherbed is designed to keep the fill inside from moving around. It keeps the cushion under your tush, so you don't wake up feeling like you're sleeping on brick. Baffle box featherbeds are ideal for those who like to rock and roll in their sleep. Bag Style - On the other hand, there's the bag style featherbed. Hence the name, it has no boxes or channels to keep the down in place and is somewhat less supportive than its baffle box cousin. It's great if you've always dreamt of sleeping on a bag of feathers. Not so great if you thrash around in your sleep. Baffle Channel Construction - Featherbeds with baffle channel construction allow for maximum adjustability and a firm feel. They're similar to the baffle box, but instead of the boxes, they have long lines of fill. Down-topped - A down-topped featherbed is about as cushy as you can get. It features a pillow top filled with down and gives you that sinking into bed feeling. Now that you know the different types of featherbeds available, let me tell you another thing I learned on the perfect featherbed journey. Look closely at your featherbed's label. Is it down-feather or feather-down? Is it goose down or duck down? There are differences between those terms as well! Feather Wars Down-Feather vs. Feather-Down - What came first, the feather or the down? It actually matters which ways those words are ordered! Down-feather blends have more down and feather-down blends have more feathers. Some companies will list the percentage of feather or down - the label will look like this: down-feather: 80/20. Goose-Down vs. Duck-Down - When selecting a featherbed, consider the type of feathers you're after. In general, most people prefer goose-down because the featherbed is thicker and provides more support. Duck-down feather beds have their own merits - for one thing, they're considerable lighter and easier to fluff. Cleaning your Featherbed Congrats! You found your perfect feather bed. But when you bring it home, you'll have to take care of it. Otherwise, your bed could become a feather fortress for dust mites and other unwanted visitors. However, it's recommended that you not clean your feather bed too often. Washing it way more than you're supposed to could damage the down. Get a feather bed protector and you'll Contrary to popular belief, you don't necessarily have to dry clean your feather bed - although dropping it off at the cleaners is a heck of a lot easier than washing and drying it at home. Read the special instructions. If it says, "Dry Clean Only," don't jam it in the washer and hope for the best. You'll need a large capacity washer and dryer if you're going to do it yourself. Washing and drying a featherbed takes hours. Select cold-wash and use liquid detergent. When it's done washing, tumble dry low in a large-capacity dryer, with tennis balls or shoes to keep the fill even. Be sure it's completely dry before putting it back on the bed - wet feathers can rot and if that happens, your goose is cooked.
